Harrison has worked with both my Belgian Tervuren, Tigger and my Mal Roo. I have worked with other trainers in the past, they all pale compared to The Virginia School for Dogs. The time, affection and care she has put into my dogs is demonstrated daily with them
ongoing obedient behavior. Thank you, Harrison and The Virginia School for Dogs, there is no way I could manage 2 Belgians, a Husky and an Anatolian Shepard without your ongoing training and help.

Harrison changed my Male
rottweiler so much, he went
from pulling at the leash and
aggressive towards people
and dogs.
The training has changed my dog so much now, other people can see what I see when I look at him. HIGHLY recommend her to anyone looking for a great dog trainer. 10/10
Our male Rottweiler puppy, Pacaya, is finally home from his training with Harrison at The Virginia School for Dogs, and he has come home like a new dog. Before we sent him to Harrison, Pacaya struggled with some very early aggression and behavioral issues. He would be aggressive towards people and other dogs, would NOT walk on a leash, and would not pay attention to us at all if it wasn't on his terms. When we would put him on a leash, he would lie down and not move, now he is a great leash walker- he heels so nicely! He shows no aggression towards people or the other dogs, even if they are barking at him. His attention span has changed so much, he now listens to us when we are training him! He knows word commands as well as hand signals. We could not be more grateful for all of the hard work Harrison put into him!
Harrison took in our walking terror and completely changed his demeanor. Before Ruger was a nightmare in his leash for us and our kids, would jump on us and others. His attention span was very low and distracted easily & he would not sit still. Now he walks on his leash with ease and calmly sits/lays at our feet instead of jumping all over us, he stays in place when told and pays attention to our movements for his next commands. Harrison treated him as her own and we will definitely being going back for upkeep training and boarding. I definitely recommend The Virginia School for Dogs!
we are so thankful to have found The Virginia School for Dogs for our 18-month-old dachshund Piper. She's a wonderful sweet-tempered dog but lacked some basic manners and was difficult to train. It's very hard to make the decision to send your dog off for training but I definitely was the right decision for us. Piper was a compulsive barker at anything and everything and would dart out of our front door straight into the road at full speed Once she left our front door she would no longer respond to ANY commands. After spending a few weeks at The Virginia School for Dogs, Piper has learned how to control her barking, sit patiently in front of an open door without running away (THIS IS HUGE) and walks beautifully on a leash (even when other dogs are present). Harrison even came to our home and gave each person in our family a private lesson so we could continue with Pipers new successes. Thank you for treating
Piper like she was a member of your family!
I adopted my dog Minnie from an SPCA mega adoption event. Soon after I adopted her, I realized that
much of the information given to me about Minnie was inaccurate. For
instance, she wasn't moderately dog selective, she was EXTREMELY dog
aggressive. After an incident with a neighbor's dog, my boyfriend and I turned to Harrison for help. The month
Minnie spent with Harrison completely turned her behavior around. She will
never be buddy-buddy with other dogs, but she has learned to avoid/tolerate other animals instead of
attacking, she listens, and she heels beautifully on a walk. She has been back home from training for almost a month now, and Harrison continues to make the trek to DE each week to work with Minnie and me. Minnie has only continued to improve!! If your dog struggles with aggression, I highly recommend Harrison to get the situation under control!
